Established in 1937, Ballet Theatre Queensland is proud to be Australia’s longest-standing ballet company, nurturing generations of young dancers to grow, perform and be inspired.

As Queensland’s leading youth ballet company, BTQ gives young artists the chance to experience company-style training and perform in fully staged productions of professional standard. Founded by Phyllis Danaher and guided by just nine Artistic Directors since, the company continues to present annual seasons defined by creativity, community, and artistry.

For more than eight decades, Ballet Theatre Queensland has been at the heart of Queensland’s dance community, shaping generations of dancers.

Across its rich repertoire of beloved classics and imaginative reinterpretations, the company has delighted audiences while giving talented young dancers the chance to hone their craft. BTQ remains a cherished part of the state’s cultural life, bringing the joy of ballet to growing audiences each year. Today, BTQ continues as a vibrant training hub, offering pre-professional programs and performance opportunities to dancers from all backgrounds. Looking ahead, the company remains committed to expanding its repertoire and shaping Queensland's dance future through high-quality performances and enhanced training for emerging artists.
