Queensland Ballet
Ari Thomson is a celebrated Australian dancer whose career has been marked by talent, versatility and an unmistakable on-stage presence. Raised in Ipswich, Ari’s journey began in jazz, tap and championship ballroom before discovering ballet at age 12, a late start that quickly revealed extraordinary potential. In 2010 he was accepted into The Australian Ballet School following highly competitive auditions, earning comparisons to a real-life Billy Elliot. Ari performed with Ballet Theatre Queensland from 2009 to 2011, laying the foundation for a career defined by drive, musicality and a deep love of performance.
After completing Queensland Ballet Academy’s Pre-Professional Program, Ari joined Queensland Ballet in 2015 as a Jette Parker Young Artist. He danced with Western Australian Ballet for a year before returning to Queensland Ballet in 2017, where he spent the next nine years as a valued Company Artist. Across a decade, Ari became known for his dedication, infectious energy and positive spirit, qualities felt daily in the studio and warmly received by audiences. Following his final bow at the conclusion of Romeo and Juliet, Ari has transitioned his passion for movement into a new chapter as a personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach while completing studies in Exercise and Sports Science. His artistry and presence continue to inspire, and he remains a cherished alumnus of the Queensland dance community.
