Ballet Theatre Queensland

The Ballet Theatre Queensland was formed in 1937 and has the distinction of being the oldest classical dance company in Australia

BTQ is a non-profit organization which receives no operational or recurrent funding from any level of government. The company survives purely on paid performances at school holiday venues and on box office sales from our major annual production performed at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) at South Bank, Brisbane.

BTQ auditions annually for our company members drawing on students from ballet schools throughout South-East Queensland.

BTQ performs classical ballets targeted at a young family audience which allows us to nurture not only young dance talent in Queensland, but also develop an appreciation of ballet amongst the younger audiences.
