Ballet Theatre of Queensland (BTQ) is Queensland's premier youth ballet company, established in 1937 to provide professionally staged performance opportunities for talented Queensland dancers. A not-for-profit incorporated organisation, BTQ is governed by a board, which contributes through its members' wide fields of expertise. BTQ receives no operational or recurrent funding form any level of government.
BTQ's exquisitely produced classic ballets target a family audience, which not only nurtures the dance talent of Queensland, but also develops an appreciation of ballet amongst the younger audiences.
Each year the BTQ season utilises all dancers in two casts, giving them the opportunity to learn and perform in a variety of roles. BTQ auditions annually for all company members, and is independent from any dance school.
